  Birthday Party Ideas for Children

Puppet Show Birthday Party

All you need for a fun puppet show birthday party is a few inexpensive supplies such as old, clean socks, felt, glue, feathers and the like. Help the children create puppets and then organize the kids in groups of two or three to put on a puppet show for the rest of the children. To create a puppet theater way in advance of the party, tape together panels you cut from cardboard boxes or use a large appliance box. A local appliance store may be able to provide you with one. Cover the appliance box or taped panel squares with fabric or paper decorated with designs made from paint or felt tipped markers.

You could have a DVD of a puppet show that is entertaining for the children to watch. The invitations should be colorful. Specify that the children will be making puppets and that old clothing should be worn.

Magic Show Birthday Party

Stock up on inexpensive magic trick supplies and you’ll have the beginnings of a magic show birthday party. Interview and audition a local magician to book for the party too. Supply guests with decks of cards and other magic trick supplies and look for interesting tricks that aren’t too difficult for the children’s age group. If hiring an entertainer, make sure to get references and have a written contract.

Invitations can feature a hat or white rabbit. The text could read “Join us for a Magical Time at Adam’s 5th Birthday.” The inside text of Magic Show Birthday Party invitations could be written in invisible ink with only the instructions on how to read it easily visible. Be sure the method really works so that the party details are clearly communicated!

Barnyard Birthday Party

If a visit to a working farm and/or petting zoo is possible, this can make a great children’s birthday party theme. Look for animal themed invitations. Classic party games such as Pin the Tail on the Donkey and The Farmer in the Dell work well with this theme or you can look for other animal themed children’s song tapes and game ideas in second hand stores. You could have face painting to transform each child into their favorite animal.
